Christmas on the Mountain Finds its way back for 2021 after a
year away!
A group led by Savage 61 General Manager Tim Profit rescued
“Reading’s Christmas on the Mountain” in 2015 and has over come
many challenges to bring this Reading tradition back for 2021!
Reading, PA - November 6th, 2021: Now in its 30th year the Hillside
Playground has been transformed (located on North 14th street in
the city of Reading) into a Christmas Wonderland. It has become
affectionately known as “Christmas on the Mountain”. This free to
enter and free to park display, now with over 2 million led lights,
inflatables, vintage and modern decorations. An extended light show
set to your Favorite classic and modern holiday music, a “Frozen
on the Mountain Area”, a beautiful replica Santa’s workshop, many
real life characters in costumes and a few over the top surprises for
2021. After being forced to sit out 2020 and nearly having to do the
same in 2021 the refreshing of the display will have the many Berks
county residents that consider “Christmas on the Mountain” an
annual tradition smiling ear to ear when the display opens for the
Season Friday Dec 3rd, 2021.
Tim Profit’s Team and Reading’s Christmas on the Mountain
volunteers have found a way to pull it off for 2021. “I am honestly in
awe that we are standing here discussing Christmas on the Mountain
for 2021. We had to overcome some significant challenges to make
this happen this year. Although we had to push the opening a week
later than normal, I am very proud of our Volunteer Team and the
RHS JROTC for making it happen for the community. On top of just
pulling it off.. to be able to actually refresh and improve it to this level,
is something sort of a miracle.” Said Profit a 1999 RHS graduate
The Reading High School Marine Corps JROTC continue to be
committed to the setup and ongoing operational manpower of their
hundreds of cadets. The cadets and the volunteers have been
setting up for the 2021 Christmas Season and will continue until the
opening on Friday December 4th when the Cadets will transition to
the operational capacity of the display.
Reading’s Christmas on the Mountain exists today solely
because of the support of local businesses. While The Savage Auto
Group and Axcess Industries has provided the majority of the startup
and continuous funding.
This display would not be possible without the substantial
investment in this Reading tradition from these businesses.
